Hotel staycations and fireworks views

There’s something pretty romantic about waking up on New Year’s Day together, champagne still in the fridge, breakfast waiting downstairs, and zero need to fight for a taxi home at 2am. Here’s how you can enjoy front-row fireworks views without the Marina Bay crowds.

The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore

The famous octagonal bathroom windows at the luxurious Ritz-Carlton frame the Marina Bay skyline perfectly, which means you can watch fireworks from the tub together, if that’s your thing. Their “Crafted Holidays” package includes champagne (a bottle of Barons de Rothschild) delivered to your room and a guaranteed 3pm late checkout, so there’s no rush the next morning. Arguably the best value still available for a fireworks-view staycation.

  • Price: From S$600/night
  • Address: 7 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039799

The Fullerton Hotel Singapore

Fullerton Hotel’s Courtyard celebration puts you right on the waterfront with live band music, champagne in hand, and fireworks overhead. It’s pricey, yes, but you and your chosen person will get to ring in the new year in the chicest way possible: Overlooking the city down below instead of being crammed into the faceless crowds just metres away.

  • Price: From approximately S$1,115/night (room)
  • Address: 1 Fullerton Square, Singapore 049178

Singapore Flyer champagne special

Not quite a staycay (unless they invent some way to let you stay safely stay overnight suspended from steel cables) but a worthy consideration nonetheless.

So, you’re 165 metres above the city, slowly rotating in a glass capsule, champagne in hand, as fireworks explode at eye level all around Marina Bay. This is the kind of moment that makes for a proper core memory.

For $250 per person for the New Year’s Eve Countdown Champagne Experience, you’ll get a glass of champagne, a party pack, priority boarding, a souvenir, and 30 minutes of breathtaking views in a shared capsule. Truly unforgettable.

  • Price: $250 per person
  • Address: 30 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039803

Best rooftop bars for the Countdown

Sometimes you want the city skyline views and the party atmosphere without committing to a full staycation. Rooftop bars deliver exactly that: dress up a bit, clink glasses at midnight, and head home whenever you’re ready.

Southbridge

If the mega rooftop bars feel a bit overwhelming, Southbridge offers something cosier. This bar sits above the Boat Quay bustle, giving you Singapore River views with Marina Bay glittering in the distance.

Their NYE “Toast High To 2026” package is just-right for couples: a curated sharing platter, a bottle of Remie Courvier Champagne, and front-row seats to the distant fireworks. Add in free-flow bar snacks (truffle fries highly recommended) and celebratory shots and you’ve got a properly indulgent night.

Of course, you can just go for individual drinks – the Gin & Tonic here is pretty killer.

A tip from someone who has made the same mistake: the entrance isn’t on Boat Quay itself. Do look for the big white balloon and enter from South Bridge Road, behind the building near 7-Eleven.

  • Price (NYE package): $298++ (Couples Bundle for 2, includes platter and champagne)
  • Address: 80 Boat Quay, Level 5, Singapore 049868

NOVA at One Raffles Place

NOVA creates romantic New Year’s Eve ideas above the city.

If the “highest rooftop bar in Singapore” and panoramic views is something you’d enjoy, this is your spot. NOVA sits 282 metres up on Level 63, which makes every other rooftop feel a bit less impressive by comparison. The centrepiece (pictured) is ASTRA, a colossal star-shaped steel sculpture that looks particularly stunning against the city lights at midnight.

This NYE, your ticket gets you access to both NOVA and HighHouse, which is one floor below, so you can bounce between two distinct vibes all night. House and techno upstairs, panoramic fireworks views on the terrace. It’s the kind of venue where you’ll spend half the night taking photos and the other half wondering why you don’t do this more often.

  • Price (includes two drinks and access to both venues):
    • $168 (entry before 10pm)
    • $228 (entry after 10pm)
  • Address: 1 Raffles Place, Levels 61-63, Singapore 048616
  • Time: 6pm to 4am

SKAI Loft at Fairmont

SKAI Loft hosts NYE countdown parties for couples to welcome 2026.
Caption: SKAI Loft

SKAI Loft puts you 71 floors up at Singapore’s tallest hotel for just S$50++ with a drink included. Their “Neon Nights” countdown party is set to transform the space into a glowing playground of luminous visuals and panoramic city views.

The entertainment here punches above its price point: a six-piece live band (Let’sPlay!) kicks things off with Top 40s and pop-rock nostalgia, then DJs Kidd Royale, Vianna and Pillazion take over with EDM and dance-pop until 3am. High views, live music, curated drinks, and a midnight countdown with someone you actually want to kiss. Not bad for fifty bucks.

  • Price (Countdown party): From S$50++/person (includes one drink)
  • Address: 2 Stamford Road, Level 71, Singapore 178882
  • Time: 10pm to 3am

Catch the NYE fireworks for free

Marina Barrage is among the best places to watch fireworks Singapore.

About the Marina Bay countdown: It’s spectacular, it’s free, and it’s absolutely rammed with people. But it’s also one of the best ways to catch the NYE fireworks for free with your partner. Bring a picnic mat, pack some snacks, and make an evening of it.

Marina Barrage is the couple’s pick. The spacious green rooftop has that romantic picnic atmosphere with a café nearby, and it might just be less chaotic than the waterfront spots.

The Promontory offers the most direct unobstructed waterfront views if you want to be in the thick of things.

Esplanade Roof Terrace is an “open secret” with a tropical garden rooftop and significantly fewer crowds than the promenade below. Free access via City Hall or Esplanade MRT.

Gardens by the Bay East gives you a 2km waterfront promenade away from the main crowds. Catch the free Garden Rhapsody light show at 8:45pm, then settle in for fireworks.

Festive strolls: Orchard Road and beyond

Okay, so not every NYE date needs to revolve around the countdown itself. Sometimes a leisurely evening walk through festive light-ups is exactly the right vibe, especially if one of you isn’t big on crowds orlate nights.

The annual Orchard Road Christmas light-up runs until January 1, and on NYE the lights stay on until 6am. This year’s SG60 installations include Merli the Merlion in a Santa outfit and Santa’s Trishaw Sleigh, which is pretty cute for photos. The Great Christmas Village at Ngee Ann City also has nightly snowfall shows at 8pm and 9pm.

For a less-crowded, but no less festive, stroll, try visiting the Botanic Gardens for “Trees of the World”. Light-up displays and decorated trees bring a soft glow as you explore the beloved garden grounds. The Bandstand gazebo is a definite must-visit; festooned with hundreds of glittering fairy lights, it’ll make for the ultimate couples’ shot for your Insta.

Clarke Quay offers drone shows at 9pm and 11pm instead of fireworks, as well as music sets and other activities. It’s free, the light installations are impressive, and they run free Night Shuttle buses afterwards. A solid option if you want countdown energy without the Marina Bay crush.

Sentosa beach countdown parties

If your ideal NYE involves sand, sea breeze, and barefoot dancing, Sentosa has you covered (I mean, it’s Sentosa).

Mediacorp Let’s Celebrate 2026 at Siloso Beach

This is a big one, and it’s completely free. On 31st December, the beach is set to transform into a full-scale concert venue with K-pop headliners IRENE & SEULGI from Red Velvet, plus local acts like Taufik Batisah, Fariz Jabba, and Estelle Fly. Doors open at 7pm, the show runs until 1am, and you get 10+ minutes of fireworks at midnight. If you and your partner bond over live music and don’t mind crowds, this is hard to beat for the price (which is zero).

  • Location: Siloso Beach
  • Time: 7pm to 1am

Sand Bar Beach Party

The Sand Bar Beach Party keeps things simple: DJs, fire dancing, shoreline dancing, and a drink included for S$25. Perfect for couples who just want to be near the water without overthinking it: show up, grab a drink, dance if you feel like it, watch the fireworks, go home happy.

  • Price: S$25 (includes one drink)
  • Location: Siloso Beach
  • Time: 7pm till late

‘Luminous 2025’ at +Twelve

This NYE, Singapore’s only adults-only beach club is set to be a neon-fuelled countdown where fluorescent fits, glowing accessories, and UV body paint (provided free) are actively encouraged. If you’ve ever wanted to ring in the new year looking like you stepped out of a rave music video, this is your moment.

  • Price: From $68++ per person (standing, includes three drinks)
  • Location: +Twelve, Siloso Beach
  • Time: 4pm to 2am

Quiet at-home New Year’s ideas for couples

Sometimes the most romantic thing is staying in, and it doesn’t mean settling. No queues, no dress codes, no fighting for transport home. Just the two of you, good food, and the countdown on TV. Here are some tips to make stay-home plans a success:

Make dinner an event, not an afterthought. If you both enjoy cooking, pick a recipe you’ve never tried before. Or, if you’re like us and cooking sounds like too much work, order from somewhere you’ve both been meaning to try.

Set the mood properly. Fairy lights, candles, a playlist you’ve curated instead of whatever Spotify auto-generates. Rearrange the living room if you have to. Create a space that feels intentional.

Plan something to do together. Board games, a movie marathon of films you’ve both been putting off, a year-in-review where you flip through photos from the past 12 months. Some couples write letters to their future selves or set intentions for the year ahead. Others just want to play Mario Kart until midnight. Both are valid (I would lean towards Mario Kart).

Don’t skip the countdown. Good ol’ Mediacorp broadcasts the Marina Bay fireworks live, so you can still get that collective “3, 2, 1” energy without leaving your sofa. Pop a bottle at midnight and toast to each other without having to worry about the trip back home later.

Stock up beforehand. Don’t forget to grab some snacks and treats and drinks that make the night feel special rather than ordinary.

A quiet and cosy NYE? Sometimes that’s the dream.

Make this countdown night count

You’ve seen our suggestions, but the best New Year’s Eve date ideas are the ones that match what you and your partner enjoy. Some couples thrive in the Marina Bay crowds. Others want nothing more than a quiet rooftop and distant fireworks. Both can be equally romantic.

Just remember: MRT runs extended hours on NYE, roads around Marina Bay close from 6pm, and the smart move is to book whatever you’re booking today.

See you on the other side of midnight.
